I have a family business, and was told we cannot buy a group health plan. Is this true?
Question: We are a family business that includes me, my wife and son. We were told we can not buy a group health plan since the only employees are all family members. Is this true?

Answer: To be eligible for a small business health insurance subsidy, your family business must have at least one employee who is not a family member. However, your family may be eligible for a subsidy to help with the purchase of individual coverage on an exchange, if your income for the year is less than 400 percent of the federal poverty level.
