Philly goes red Friday for National Wear Red Day
February is American Heart Month, a time when the American Heart Association asks all Americans to try to implement at least one positive change to ensure a healthier heart. The first Friday in February is traditionally National Wear Red Day, so this Friday, February 6, they want you to wear red to support the fight against heart disease in women.

Did you know that cardiovascular diseases cause one in three women's deaths each year, killing approximately one woman every minute? But we can change that because 80 percent of cardiac events can be prevented with education and lifestyle changes, and already since the first National Wear Red Day in 2003, heart disease death in women has decreased by more than 30%.
Go Red For Women is about much more than wearing red on National Wear Red Day though. It's about making a change. Women who are involved with the Go Red For Women movement live healthier lives. According to the American Heart Association, nearly 90% have made at least one healthy behavior change and more than one-third has lost weight.
Helping to turn Philadelphia red this year in the American Heart Association's City Goes Red movement will be notable buildings in the Greater Philadelphia area, including the Cira Centre, PECO, Commerce Square, Strawberry Mansion Bridge, One Penn Center, Liberty Place Buildings, National Constitution Center, Reading Terminal Market, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Hyatt Regency, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Lincoln Financial Field and BNY Mellon. Some of the buildings will be lit up on the outside, while others will be showing their support indoors. Make sure you check them out.
