Chat with Dr. Steven Cohen as you prepare for the Philadelphia Marathon
Join Dr. Steven Cohen of the Rothman Institute, Tuesday, November 18 at 7 p.m. as he answers your specific questions about what to expect from the upcoming Philadelphia Marathon.
With the 2014 Philadelphia Marathon right around the corner, sports medicine surgeon Steven B. Cohen, M.D. of the Rothman Institute, will be fielding your questions about the upcoming race via web chat on Tuesday, November 18, from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m.
The marathon will be held on Sunday, November 23, with runners slated to begin at 7 a.m. Race weekend will also offer half-marathon and 8K courses as well.
To help have you as prepared as possible come race day, Dr. Cohen will be made available to answer a wide-variety of questions about the race, including preventing injury before and during the big day.
"The most common injuries come from overuse and overtraining before a race. Athlete's bodies just aren't holding up. Typically, lower extremities are the most affected. Hip, knee, foot and ankle injuries," Dr. Cohen said.
Among other topics to be discussed will be pre/post race nutrition, hydration tips and training tips.
"The best thing you can do for a marathon is have a good shoe to wear, eat right and train properly," he said.
