When Tom Knox entered the Democratic primary for mayor, political watchers were known to snicker that the self-made millionaire would get robbed by the city's ward leaders.
Knox surprised many by doing very well. But he still got robbed - by a couple of young punks who donned his campaign T-shirts and knocked over his Frankford field office yesterday.
The two young men entered the campaign office adjacent to the Third Federal Savings Bank on Frankford Avenue near Overington Street, wearing red "Knox for Mayor" T-shirts, just before 1 p.m. and asked to see the manager.
One of the bandits then pulled a pistol and demanded cash.
They got away on foot with at least $550 in cash.
There were no injuries.
"The guy who got held up was definitely a little shaken," said Knox campaign manager Josh Morrow. "Any time you get a gun pointed at you, it can really freak you out."*
