Shooting-death victim ID'd A South Philadelphia man shot to death Tuesday afternoon was identified by police yesterday as Andre Cerdan, 23, of McClellan Street near Snyder Avenue. He was shot once in the shoulder shortly before 5 p.m on Chadwick Street near Morris in South Philadelphia. He was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital shortly after.

Teen shot dead in Fairmount

Kuame Burkett, 18, was shot to death Tuesday night in Fairmount. Police said Burkett, of Brown Street near 16th, had been shot multiple times in the torso and legs shortly before 9 p.m. He was pronounced dead at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital shortly before 9:30 p.m.

Suspended cop held for trial

Deshane Riggins, 28, a suspended city police officer accused of creating false accident reports as part of an insurance-fraud scheme, waived his preliminary hearing in Municipal Court yesterday and was held for trial on all charges.

His attorney, Tariq Karim El-Shabazz, acknowledged afterward that prosecutors have "enough evidence at this stage." Riggins, who had been a patrol officer in the 14th District, in Germantown, was released on his own recognizance after his arrest by the district attorney's office on Jan. 30.

'Love triangle' cop reinstated

Police Chief Inspector Evelyn Heath, fired from the department in 2006 over her alleged role in a love triangle with two other officers, has been reinstated after an arbitrator ruled that she had been unjustly booted.

Heath was the first woman in department history to reach the rank of chief inspector. The attorney for Nicholas and Jane DiPasquale, the couple who claimed Heath had harassed them, said he could not comment until the litigation process was complete. Internal Affairs Chief Inspector William Colarulo declined to comment.

Man, 83, jailed in wife's death

William Ernest, 83, of Brookhaven, Delaware County, was sentenced yesterday from 364 days to 729 days in prison, to be followed by five years' probation, after pleading guilty Tuesday in Delaware County Court to involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault in the death of his wife.

Ernest was charged with beating his Alzheimer's-stricken wife of 59 years, Jean, into a coma from which she never awoke last summer.

The case saw the couple's daughter supporting Ernest and their two sons serving as prosecution witnesses. *
