25 charged in illegal gun transfers

Task-force agents last month snatched Lewis Ford, 25, a convicted felon, and Daaiyah Powell, 26, in their home on Ashley Street near 19th, West Oak Lane.

There, they found a .45-caliber submachine gun in Ford's 8-year-old son's bedroom, authorities said in a news release. They also found a loaded 9 mm handgun under the mattress in the bedroom where Ford's 3-year-old daughter was sleeping and a loaded .45-caliber handgun in that room.

Authorities have also arrested Elizabeth Govens, 60, who previously was convicted of a voluntary manslaughter charge and who uses the aliases of Elizabeth Williams and Doris Anne Jeans. Govens, of 15th Street near Hunting Park Avenue, allegedly used false ID to buy two handguns.

Also arrested were:

_ Ryant Grisson, aka Bryant Gippison, 37, of 68th Avenue near 18th Street, who allegedly falsified forms to buy two guns, one of which allegedly was given to his cousin and was later found in a homicide investigation.

_ Robert Freeman, 33, of Kershaw Street near 53rd, whose legally purchased gun was found Feb. 29 in a backpack on a SEPTA bus by a 15-year-old student, who turned it over to authorities.

_ Derrick Patterson, 18, of Willard Street near G, who allegedly gave a handgun to a juvenile, who is accused of using it shortly after in a shooting.

_ Troy McGee, 24, of Chestnut Street near 60th, and Marcus Nabried, 24, of Meehan Avenue, who allegedly conspired in falsely reporting the theft of McGee's AK-47 rifle and 9 mm handgun.

_ Marwan Robinson, 26, of Upland Street near 47th, accused of falsely reporting a burglary in which he claimed 10 guns stolen.

_ Kent Chang, 28, of Brooklyn, N.Y., who allegedly falsified forms to buy four 9 mm handguns.

Arrested in alleged straw-purchasing cases were Joshua Shannon, 25, of Comly Street; Lateicha Stevenson, 28, of Juniata Street; Tanya Rivera, 28, of Bensalem; Tia Jordan, 32, of McCallum Street; Terrine Dubois, 29, of Windrim Avenue; Tyree Manning, 25, of Elmwood Avenue, and Mercedes Jones, 23, of Boothwyn.

Arrested on charges of illegally buying or selling guns on the street were Arthur Henry, 29, and Charles E. Brown, 36, both of Beechwood Street; Scott Thompson, 29, of Charles Street, and Tevis Thompson, 19, of Quakertown.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Collins Eubanks, 37, of D Street near Erie Avenue; Michael Welles, 35, of Pickwick Street near Frankford Avenue; Willie Womick, 51, of Paxon Street near Kingsessing Avenue, and Carlos Marshall, aka Tyrone Miller, 35, of Sicklerville, N.J. *
