Philadelphia police yesterday released a sketch of an armed bandit who has robbed a half-dozen Germantown businesses in the past three weeks.

The thief appears to have favored the Green Grocer on Greene Street near Rittenhouse, having struck there on May 9, May 12 and May 16.

Police said he also held up the Dollar Crazy store on Germantown Avenue near School House Lane on May 20 and then again on Monday. On Wednesday, he robbed a T-Mobile store on Chelten Avenue near Greene Street.

Each time out, the thief produced a black handgun and demanded cash from a store employee. Detectives said he's netted anywhere between $200 and $1,200 in each of the robberies.

The armed bandit hasn't wounded or injured any of the employees or store customers, investigators noted.

Victims described him as a black man in his early 20s, about 5 feet 10 and 160 to 170 pounds. He usually dresses in black clothing, from his baseball cap to his boots, and might be using a 1990s model four-door Nissan or Mitsubishi as a getaway car.
