Fatal stabbing in S. Philly

A man in his 30s was fatally stabbed on Passyunk Avenue near 19th Street in South Philadelphia yesterday. Police did not identify the man, who was killed at about 5:30 p.m. Police did not have any suspects and knew of no motive as of last night. Tipsters can call 215-686-3334 or -3335.

Citizens Bank robber in NE

A man is being sought in the robbery of a Citizens Bank on Cottman Avenue near Castor in Northeast Philadelphia yesterday afternoon.

The robber, described as white, in his early 20s, 5 feet 7, medium build, and wearing a navy-colored knit cap, dark-colored gloves and a navy-colored hoodie with the words "wags place" on the front, approached the teller at about 4:40 p.m. He presented a demand note, obtained an unknown amount of cash and fled. Jealousy leads to life in jail

A woman has been sentenced to life in prison for the shooting death of a fellow parishioner inside a church in Springfield Township.

Mary Jane Fonder, 66, maintained her innocence at yesterday's sentencing in Doyles-town, but prosecutors say Fonder killed Rhonda Smith, 42, because she was jealous of the attention Smith was getting from the church pastor.

Phila. slay fugitive nabbed

A murder suspect wanted in a July slaying in Philadelphia was nabbed early yesterday by the FBI's Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force in Lower Pottsgrove. Donte Hill, 19, is accused of fatally shooting Raheem Ellis on Parkside Avenue near Belmont on July 20.

Cops: 'Doughnut' drunk charged

A 24-year-old man has been charged with drunken driving after being caught doing "doughnuts" on an ice-covered Beaver County Airport runway. Michael Montgomery, of Streestboro, Ohio, allegedly told police that he had the FAA's permission to test brakes on the runway. *
