Woman slain in Germantown

A woman was found shot to death early yesterday in a back alley near Abbottsford Avenue near McKean, in Germantown, in what police say might be a drug-related crime.

The victim, Lynda Collazo, of Rockland Street near Germantown Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:32 a.m. Anyone with information about the incident should call homicide detectives at 215-686-3334.

'Career criminal' gets life-plus

Terrill Edwards, 28, described as a career criminal, was sentenced in federal court yesterday to life plus five years in prison for drug and weapons charges. Acting U.S. Attorney Laurie Magid said that Edwards was convicted Sept. 24 of possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of crack cocaine.



6-year-old hurt in hit-run

Six-year-old Ateehma Jones was critically injured Sunday afternoon, when she was struck by a hit-run vehicle while riding a bicycle in Gloucester Township.

Ateehma was playing at Jarvis and Wiltshire roads when she was struck by a four-door, cream-colored auto with a tinted rear window. The driver, described as a white man with blond hair, stopped briefly, then sped off, police said. Tipsters: call Gloucester Township police, 856-228-4500.

Student points gun, is arrested

Authorities say a 17-year-old Salem High student brought a handgun to school yesterday and pointed it at another student in a classroom before fleeing from the building. He was arrested shortly after. No one was hurt. *
