Yesterday

A man believed to have stabbed another man in the back was arrested in South Philadelphia after his alleged victim spotted him, police said.

The unidentified victim was knifed at 2:28 a.m. at 6th Street near Tasker and, after police arrived, was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Soon after the man was released, he saw his attacker and called cops, police said.

Saturday

A 37-year-old Germantown man was killed when he was shot several times in a brawl outside a Nicetown bar, police said.

Dwayne Palmer, of Keyser Street near Manheim, was inside Buffy's Lounge, at Clarissa and Dennie streets, when a fight broke out and moved outside, police said.

Authorities were called to the scene at 1:15 a.m. and Palmer was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he died at 1:30 a.m. Investigators are unsure if Palmer was part of the fight or a bystander, but they believe that one person shot him several times "up close and personal," law-enforcement sources said.

Friday

A 54-year-old man was struck and killed by an SUV while crossing State Road a block from his Torresdale home, police said.

Balwant Singh, of State Road near Arendell Avenue, walked across the road mid-block about 11 p.m. and was hit by a southbound Cadillac Escalade, said Philadelphia police spokeswoman Officer Jill Russell. Singh was pronounced dead at the scene, and no charges were filed against the driver, Russell said.
