Man sought in NE bank heist

The FBI and police are looking for an apparent Phillies fan who robbed the Citizens Bank branch at 10650 Bustleton Ave., in the Northeast, Saturday morning.

Authorities said that the thief, wearing a cap with a Phillies "P" on it, entered the bank shortly after 10 a.m. and threatened a teller. He ran off after obtaining an undisclosed amount of money.

He is described as a tall black man wearing a dark hooded jacket and blue jeans. Anyone with information about the robbery should call the FBI at 215-418-4000, or 9-1-1.

S. Phila. gun fatality

A 30-year-old man was shot to death and a 21-year-old woman injured during a double shooting in South Philadelphia early yesterday.

The man was shot in the chest about 2:25 a.m. on Marshall Street near Oregon Avenue, and was pronounced dead at 4:48 a.m. at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. The woman was shot in the left hand.

She was in stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Shoots himself, gets arrested

An 18-year-old man was arrested yesterday morning after he shot himself in the hand at his house on Scattergood Street near Duffield, in Frankford. When police arrived they were unable to retrieve the gun, because the man had passed it off to someone else.

The man, identified by police as Irwin Gray, was treated at Aria Health-Frankford campus, and released.

He has been charged with reckless endangerment and other charges.

Girl, 16, shot in Rhawnhurst

A 16-year-old girl was shot in the elbow yesterday on Stanwood Street near Loretto Avenue, in Rhawnhurst. She was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital, where she is in stable condition. Police said that, as yet, they have made no arrests.

Capsized-boat survivor released

Robert Mark Cooper, of Point Pleasant, the lone survivor of a fishing boat accident off Barnegat Light, in which two other men were lost at sea, has been released from the hospital.

Cooper was released Friday from AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus, two days after a Coast Guard crew found him in a life raft.

Cooper was among three people aboard the Alisha Marie, a 38-foot boat based in Point Pleasant. It capsized Wednesday night after being hit by a large wave about 26 miles east of Barnegat Light.

The search for William Brown Jr. and Joseph Bell, both of Newport News, Va., was suspended late Thursday night.
