Natural causes claimed 2, but 8 died at her hands

Arthur and Marie Noe married on June 1, 1948, and had 10 children. None lived much longer than 14 months. Between April 1949 and January 1968, eight were born in good health, but died at home. The two others died at the hospital of natural causes. More than 30 years later, Marie Noe pleaded guilty to killing eight of her children.

1RICHARD ALAN NOE

Born March 7, 1949, at Temple University Hospital and weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces. He died after 31 days. Initial cause of death: Congestive heart failure. No autopsy was conducted.

2ELIZABETH MARY NOE

Born Sept. 8, 1950, at Northeastern Hospital and weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces. After five months and nine days of life, Elizabeth was dead on arrival at Temple University Hospital. Initial cause of death: Bronchopneumonia, even though no microscopic findings exist to support this diagnosis. No records of an autopsy were found.

3JACQUELINE NOE

Born April 23, 1952, at Episcopal Hospital and weighed 7 pounds, 2.5 ounces. After 21 days, Jacqueline was dead on arrival at Episcopal Hospital. Initial cause of death: aspiration of vomit.

4ARTHUR NOE, JR.

Born April 23, 1955, at Episcopal Hospital and weighed 7 pounds, 11.5 ounces. After 13 days, Arthur was pronounced dead on arrival at Episcopal Hospital. Initial cause of death: Bronchopneumonia, even though, again, no microscopic findings exist to support it. An autopsy was performed and official pronouncement of death: Unknown - possible suffocation.

5CONSTANCE NOE

Born Feb. 24, 1958, at St. Luke's Hospital and weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces. After 28 days, Constance was pronounced dead on arrival at Episcopal Hospital. Autopsy performed. Cause of death: Undetermined.

Stillborn Aug. 24, 1959, at St. Luke's Hospital.

7MARY LEE NOE

Born June 19, 1962, at St. Joseph's Hospital and weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces. After six months and 15 days of life, Mary was pronounced dead on arrival at Temple University Hospital. Autopsy performed. Cause of death: Undetermined.

8THERESA NOE

Born June 28, 1963, at St. Joseph's Hospital, but only survived a little more than six hours and died in the hospital.

9CATHERINE ELLEN NOE

Born Dec. 3, 1964, at St. Joseph's Hospital and weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces. After one year, two months and 22 days of life, Catherine was pronounced dead on arrival at Episcopal Hospital. Autopsy performed. Cause of death: Undetermined.

10ARTHUR JOSEPH NOE

Born July 28, 1967, at St. Joseph's Hospital and weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces. After five months and five days of life, "little Artie" was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. Autopsy performed. Cause of death: Undetermined.
