Law board exec kills self
Mark S. Dows, executive director of the Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners, apparently committed suicide last Tuesday, a day after his 56th birthday, authorities said.
Dows, of Boiling Springs, Cumberland County, a member of the board since 1998 and its executive director for the past decade, was found dead in the basement of the Pennsylvania Judicial Center, in Harrisburg, a spokesman for the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts said. The Dauphin County coroner's office is investigating.
Joseph Rengert, counsel to the board, has been named interim executive director.
SAT workshop in Haverford
The Haverford Township Free Library is sponsoring an "Ace the SAT" Workshop to help students score their personal best in the test.
It will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, in the Community Room of the library at 1601 Darby Rd., Havertown, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

Alex's Lemonade observes 10th
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer of Wynnewood is commemorating 10 years since Alexandra Scott at the age of 4 began selling lemonade in front of her house in Wynnewood to raise money for childhood cancer research. She died of the disease at the age of 8.
To kick off the observance, lemonade stands were set up at the Pro Bowl and Super Bowl. As the summer months approach, the foundation plans to set up more high-profile lemonade stands around the country. Go to www.AlexsLemonade.org for information.
