Twisters confirmed in Penna.

The 3 tornadoes hit upstate counties.

WAYMART, Pa. - The National Weather Service has confirmed that three tornados tore through Northeastern Pennsylvania on Friday night, toppling trees and damaging some buildings as well as cutting power to thousands of residents.

Forecasters said Sunday that a category two tornado with wind speeds of 115 to 125 m.p.h. touched down near Honesdale in Wayne County and ripped into Pike County. A category one tornado was confirmed as having touched down in Susquehanna and Wayne Counties near Pleasant Mount. Another category one twister hit near Hawley in Wayne County and Lackawaxen in Pike County.

No injuries were reported. PPL spokeswoman Martha Herron said about 4,300 customers lost power. Brian Wrightson, emergency services director with the American Red Cross of Lackawanna County, said 50 to 80 properties had sustained some damage and 14 people were displaced.
