A car-service driver was shot in the face and chest late Tuesday in the Fairhill section of North Philadelphia.

Police said the unidentified 41-year-old driver was found outside his vehicle on Leithgow Street near Indiana Avenue. His car, a 2007 black Chrysler 300, had rolled about a block away and struck a utility pole, police said.

The victim was taken into surgery at Temple University Hospital, where he remained in critical condition. The driver works for Shannon Cab Co., which, according to online documents, does business as Golden Limousine.

2SHOOTING CLAIMS MAN'S LIFE

A man was shot to death in a West Oak Lane alley early yesterday. Richard Curry, 22, was shot in an alley off 76th Avenue near Ogontz shortly after midnight, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:17 a.m.

AT MALL SECURITY GUARD

A Christiana Mall security guard escaped injury yesterday after he was shot at by two shoplifting suspects in the parking lot of the mall, Delaware State Police said.

The security guard followed the two men, who were seen shoplifting at Macy's, outside to the parking lot. When he confronted them, one of them fired one shot at him from a handgun, according to police.The shot missed, and the two men, who ran off, were later taken into custody in Christiana, police said.

GUN INTO JUVENILE CENTER

A Delaware County teen in jail for marijuana possession is facing additional charges after he was allegedly caught with a loaded firearm while in custody at a county juvenile-detention facility this week.

Delaware County Courts administrator Philip Damiani Jr. said the unidentified 17-year-old boy was rearrested Monday after being found carrying a .380-caliber firearm loaded with eight rounds of ammunition.

Damiani said a juvenile-detention officer on duty at the time has been suspended with intention to terminate. Authorities said the teen had been arrested the day before on a marijuana-possession charge.

5N.C. POLICE OFFICER SHOT;

A police officer was shot and critically injured yesterday during a traffic stop of a car with Pennsylvania tags on Interstate 95 in Halifax County, N.C. Officials said the Roanoke Rapids officer was wounded after stopping a stolen 1997 Geo Prizm with Pennsylvania license plate No. HHB9493. North Carolina Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Jeff Gordon said a man and woman in the car drove away after the shooting. Their car was found abandoned nearby, and the officer was in critical condition last night.

6TEEN SHOT IN LEG

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg at 56th and Master streets about 9 last night, said Lt. John Walker of Southwest Detectives. The teen, who told police he was wounded while walking down the street, was admitted to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in stable condition. Police had no suspects and knew of no motive.

7TEENS ATTACKED ON CONCOURSE

An 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl were beaten yesterday by as many as a dozen teens in an apparently random attack in an underground concourse near SEPTA's Walnut/Locust subway station between 3 and 3:30 p.m.

The teens were attacked as they headed across the concourse toward an exit after getting off the Broad Street Line, said SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch.

The victims were treated at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital for cuts and bruises and later released. No arrests have been made. Busch said the concourse is not monitored by video-surveillance cameras but is often patrolled by SEPTA and Philadelphia police.
