So much for this being the season of giving.
Norma Jean Gray, 53, an employee at Harrah's Chester Downs Casino and Racetrack, was charged just five days befzore Christmas with stealing about $3,400 worth of tips from her co-workers, according to state police.
Gray, of Philadelphia's Point Breeze neighborhood, was allegedly caught stealing $2,804 in tips from the casino's main cage, or cashier area, that she was supposed to distribute to 75 cashiers who exchange customers' gaming chips for cash, police said.
According to court documents, Gray was caught on video committing the theft.
In interviews, Gray admitted to the theft and to thefts in October and November that totaled $600, police said.
Court documents did not detail how Gray allegedly stole the cash and a police spokesman declined to elaborate.
A Harrah's spokeswoman refused to answer any questions about Gray, including whether she was still employed at the casino. She is charged with theft and receiving stolen property.
