Cops: Man threatens snow-plower with gun

Remember those Eagles fans who pegged Santa with snowballs in the '60s? There's a grinch up in Bensalem who could use some snow-pelting.

Bensalem police say Eddie Simmons, 26, of Neshaminy Valley Drive near Neshaminy Boulevard, grew enraged at a man using a snowblower to remove snow at Simmons' apartment complex about 8:20 a.m. yesterday, accusing him of blowing snow at his car.

When the plower, a subcontractor hired to clear lots and walks at the ARK Bucks County apartment complex, responded that the snow wasn't blocking Simmons' 2004 Mazda, Simmons allegedly threatened him, saying: "Somebody better move the snow, or somebody is going to get shot."

Simmons then pulled a 9 mm semiautomatic handgun from his pocket and shoved it into the snow-plower's cheek, Bensalem police said. He then returned to his apartment. A witness alerted police, who arrested Simmons and charged him with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and related offenses.

He was arraigned yesterday afternoon before District Judge Joseph P. Falcone, who ordered him held on $500,000 bail and scheduled a preliminary hearing for next Wednesday. Falcone also ordered Simmons to stay away from his alleged victim.

Simmons faces further charges for gun violations because he does not have a permit to carry firearms in Pennsylvania, Bensalem Sgt. Andrew Aninsman said.

The snow-plower, 20, was uninjured.
