A 4-year-old boy remained in stable condition yesterday after he was shot by an 8-year-old boy in a Wissinoming house Saturday morning, police said.
About 10:05 a.m., police responded to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where the child had been taken with a wound to his buttocks, police said. Through investigations, police learned that the 4-year-old and the 8-year-old were in a house on Homestead Street near Minor playing video games when they found a loaded gun underneath a couch, according to Lt. Ray Evers, police spokesman.
He said that there was adult supervision in the home at the time and that charges were pending against the adult, but had not been filed as of yesterday.
"He's incredibly lucky," Evers said of the boy. "It was a tragedy just waiting to happen."
2 MAN WOUNDED BY POLICE
A suicidal man remained in critical condition yesterday after being shot in the chest by police on Saturday, said Lt. Ray Evers, police spokesman.
The 41-year-old man, whose identity was not released, was threatening to kill himself with a knife about 1:15 a.m. in his family's home on Princeton Avenue near Algon in the Castor section, Evers said.
When authorities arrived, the man put the knife to his neck and wrists and would not listen to commands from police to drop it, Evers said. While waiting for an officer with a stun gun to arrive, the man became more and more agitated and brought the knife over his head and lunged at police, Evers said. One officer, in turn, opened fire and hit the man once in the chest, police said. He was taken to Aria Health's Torresdale hospital, where he remained yesterday in critical condition.
3 MAN HELD IN CAR BREAK-INS
Cops arrested a 27-year-old man yesterday afternoon whom they saw breaking into numerous cars in North Philadelphia, police said.
Police saw the man, whose identity was not immediately released, breaking into vehicles on 5th Street near Venango about 1 p.m., police said. They chased him from there to Randolph and Tioga streets, where he struggled with officers but was eventually subdued, said Officer Tanya Little, police spokeswoman.
Officers recovered all items he had stolen from the vehicles he had broken into, Little said. He was expected to be charged with multiple counts of theft.
4 2 MEN KILLED
IN SHOOTINGS
A double-shooting Friday night claimed the lives of two men in West Philadelphia. Kadrian Wilson, 28, was shot several times in the chest, and another man, whose identity remains unknown, was shot multiple times in the torso about 9 p.m. on 63rd Street near Arch, police said. Both were pronounced dead at 9:17 p.m., police said.

B-BALL COURT
Shots fired at a Chester basketball court Saturday afternoon injured two bystanders, police said.
Shortly before 5 p.m. on 7th Street near Ward, John Rivera, 20, who was sitting on a bench near the courts playing with his 1-year-old son, heard shots and realized he was hit in the right thigh, police said. Another man, Darnell Colson, 20, was playing basketball when the shots were fired was hit in the right foot, police said. Both men were taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center in stable condition.
According to a witness, a black man wearing dark clothing fired the shots and fled, police said. Anyone with information is urged to call Chester police at 610-447-8428.
