U.S. Marshals found a fugitive - accused of robbing a Wendy's in Germantown on Aug. 16 and breaking through the drive-through window of a McDonald's in East Germantown on Aug. 18 - hiding in the crawlspace of his girlfriend's house in upstate New York yesterday.

Jerome Edwards, 40, of Church Street near Frankford in Kensington, was also wanted for violating the terms of his probation, which stemmed from a weapons violation.

Officials said Edwards surrendered to the U.S. Marshals in Albany, N.Y., without incident when they arrived about noon.

Just after 9 p.m. on Aug. 16, police said, Edwards robbed a Wendy's on Wayne Avenue near Chelten Avenue at gunpoint and ran from the restaurant with an undisclosed sum of cash.

In that incident, a surveillance camera recorded the suspect walking toward the restrooms to pull a black ski cap over his head.

Just before 3 a.m. on Aug. 18, a surveillance camera inside a McDonald's on Stenton Avenue near Eastburn recorded the man breaking the drive-through window and climbing inside the restaurant.

He walked toward a rear office, but left the restaurant without taking anything, police said.
