A SPURNED LOVER allegedly shot and killed his romantic rival while the other man was wrapping gifts early Christmas Day, Cheltenham authorities said yesterday.

Rayshon Carwheel, 24, of Philadelphia, is being sought in connection with the slaying of Robens Borno, 25. Borno, of Philadelphia, had recently begun dating Carwheel's former girlfriend.

Police said Borno and the woman and the woman's mother were wrapping gifts at a home on Beech Avenue near Old York Road about 1:55 a.m. when Carwheel and another man came into the room with guns.

Carwheel shot Borno multiple times with a semiautomatic handgun, police said. The woman later told police that after Carwheel opened fire, he said to her, "Oh, this is why you couldn't answer the phone."

The men escaped in a gray, late-model sedan, which was later recovered on Old York Road in Philadelphia.

Borno was rushed to Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, where he died a half-hour later.

No one responded to the front door of the Beech Avenue home yesterday. None of the young men who had gathered outside the address had any comment. Anyone with information about Carwheel's whereabouts should call the Cheltenham Police at 215-885-1600, ext. 499, or Montgomery County Detective Bureau at 610-278-3368.
