A 14-year-old boy riding a dirt bike died after being struck by a vehicle yesterday afternoon in Frankford, police said.

The boy, Jermaine Alexander, crashed his bike into an oncoming minivan about 3:20 p.m., police said.

A medic unit pronounced the boy dead at the scene, police said.

Originally reported as a hit-and-run, it later was called an accident in which the driver remained on the scene. No charges were filed.

Hospital escapee sought by police

City police are looking for a fugitive who escaped from Albert Einstein Medical Center, in Logan, last week.

William Greene, 19, was taken to the hospital for an examination last Wednesday after officers used a stun gun to apprehend him on an outstanding burglary warrant.

Police did not say how he managed to escape.

Greene, who lives on 15th Street near Lindley Avenue, in Logan, is 6 feet 1 and about 150 pounds, police said.

Man arrested in robbery, assault

A 19-year-old Logan man has ben arrested in connection with a robbery and assault earlier this month in Logan, and police are searching for two other suspects who allegedly were involved.

About 3:35 p.m. March 3, three men assaulted a man and robbed him of about $900, police said.

Early Monday morning, on Broad Street near Nedro Avenue, police saw a car fitting the description of one used in the incident and questioned a man inside.

Police arrested Naim Woodley. He faces seven charges, including robbery and aggravated assault, according to court documents.

Woodley was being held on $50,000 bail, and is scheduled for a hearing March 26, according to court documents.

The two others being sought were described as thin black men in their early 20s, about 6 feet tall, and wearing gray hooded sweaters at the time of the incident, police said.

Misstep at ATM nets man $700

* Oregon Avenue near 23rd St. Police are searching for a man who allegedly withdrew about $700 from a woman's bank account after she forgot to end her transaction at a Bank of America ATM in South Philadelphia on Feb. 6.

The woman withdrew cash from the ATM about 9:30 p.m. and walked away without clearing her account information from the screen, police said.

A man walked up to the ATM, continued the transaction and stole money from the woman's account, she told police. She said that he drove off in a silver sedan.

The thief, who was recorded on a surveillance camera, is described as a dark-skinned black man about 50 years old with a beard and mustache.

He was wearing gold-rimmed glasses, a baseball cap and a gray sweater, police said.
