A 16-year-old boy who police believe was mistakenly shot in a hail of bullets Wednesday night in West Philadelphia died Thursday morning, police said.

The teen, identified as Yasin Harvey, died at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was taken in a police patrol car after he was shot twice in the head, once in the left side of his chest and once in the left arm at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday while walking out of Koury Grocery, a corner store.

Neighbors who heard the shots opened their doors and found the boy lying on the pavement beneath the store's green-and-yellow awning, bleeding from at least four gunshot wounds.

The trouble began, police say, when a group of four teens, including the victim, were in the neighborhood visiting one of their aunts. They were asked to go to Koury's for some food. The victim went inside while three others waited outside on the corner, police said.

Cops said a passenger in a black or green Pontiac fired the shots. The vehicle was last seen fleeing east on Callowhill then southbound on 61st Street.

Police said that the shooting may have been a case of a mistaken identity, and that the teens involved were not from the neighborhood and not known to police.

Robbery suspect shot by police

Hillcreek Drive near Adams Avenue, Crescentville

A 27-year-old man was treated for a gunshot wound after he was shot by police in Crescentville on Thursday afternoon, cops said.

Police responded to a call from a woman who said she was robbed at gunpoint just after 3:30 p.m. Officers then spotted three men standing in front of a house that the victim said she had seen the suspect run into, spokesman Lt. Raymond Evers said.

Two of the men took off when an officer approached them, and the third, who matched the description of the robbery suspect, began to walk away quickly, Evers said. When an officer approached and attempted to stop him, the man allegedly reached for his waistband. The officer then fired once at him, striking him in the hip and through the buttocks, Evers said.

No gun was found at the scene, but pills and a large sum of cash the suspect dropped were recovered, police said.

The wounded suspect was treated at Albert Einstein Medical Center. Evers said Internal Affairs and the District Attorney's Office would investigate whether the officer acted appropriately.

Dads arrested after brawl over athletes

Lansdale Avenue near East 7th Street, Lansdale

Two parents were arrested Wednesday afternoon at a high-school boys' lacrosse game after their argument exploded into an all-out brawl that left both men injured.

The fathers, both in their early 50s, were fighting about which of their children was better-suited to play a particular position on Archbishop Wood's team, which was playing at Lansdale Catholic High, said Sgt. Alex Kromdyk, of the Lansdale Police Department. Archbishop Wood is a Catholic school in Warminster, Bucks County.

Kromdyk declined to release the men's names because "both parents, though cited for their actions, had the sense to step away from the field and out of view of the other adults, and more importantly, from the students playing on the field."

One parent is from Jenkintown, and the other from neighboring Jamison, Kromdyk added. Paramedics treated one man on the scene. Both men were cited for disorderly conduct and released, Kromdyk said.

The shooter is described as a medium-built black man in his early- to mid-20s with a light complexion, about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue baseball cap and black sneakers.
