3 injured in Philly shootings

Three young males were wounded, one critically, in separate shootings Friday night in Philadelphia, police said. The critical case was a 22-year-old man who was shot in the chest and back at 7:19 p.m. in the 2700 block of Jefferson Street. He was taken by private vehicle to St. Joseph's Hospital, police said.

At Mount Pleasant and Williams Avenues, in East Mount Airy, a 23-year-old man was shot once in the right thigh and once in the upper back about 9 p.m. He was taken to Einstein Medical Center and was listed in guarded condition, police said.

And a 16-year-old boy was shot once in the left knee in the 200 block of South Cecil Street at 8:38 p.m., police said.

The teenager was in stable condition and was being treated at the scene. Police said he would be taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Officials had no immediate details on a motive in any of the three cases. - Tom Avril
