Another lawsuit between dueling owners of Daily News, Inquirer

George Norcross filed a lawsuit yesterday against Lewis Katz, his fellow managing partner, in Delaware Chancery Court.

A NEW CHAPTER was added yesterday to the growing legal battle among co-owners of the Daily News, the Inquirer and Philly.com.

George Norcross, co-managing director of Interstate General Media, the newspapers' parent company, filed a countersuit in Delaware Chancery Court against co-managing director Lewis Katz.

Katz and IGM chairman H.F. "Gerry" Lenfest had filed a lawsuit in Philly's Common Pleas Court on Oct. 10, seeking to overturn the recent firing of Inquirer editor Bill Marimow. That lawsuit also seeks removal of Robert J. Hall, the Daily News and Inquirer publisher, who fired Marimow.

Norcross' lawsuit asks the Delaware court to declare that Hall had every right as publisher to fire Marimow, according to a statement released by political consultant Dan Fee, who was hired by Norcross and other owners who backed the dismissal.

Norcross' suit also seeks to end attempts by Katz to prevent members of IGM's board from responding to the lawsuit that he and Lenfest filed.
