Suspect sought in attempted abduction

A man who attempted to lure a 9-year-old boy into his truck is the subject of a police investigation.

The boy was walking on 57th Street near Malvern Avenue in Overbrook about 3:30 p.m. yesterday when the man pulled up and told him to get into the vehicle, police say. He reportedly told the boy that he wouldn't get in trouble because he knew the boy's mother. The boy fled without incident.

The predator is believed to be a black man in his 40s or 50s with a long beard, driving a gray pickup truck with tinted windows.

Ex-coach charged with corruption of minors

The former tennis coach at a Bryn Mawr independent Catholic day school for girls has surrendered to face charges that he texted one of his 15-year-old players and tried to kiss her.

Charles Meredith, 52, of Conshohocken, surrendered yesterday for arraignment on charges of corruption of minors. The player attended Sacred Heart Day School.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman and Plymouth Township police announced Meredith's arrest stemming from alleged conduct from August through October. Meredith was still coach at Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in Bryn Mawr.

32G in drugs, 29G in cash found in Rowan U. raid

Four people were arrested after police found more than $32,000 in drugs and nearly $29,000 in cash during a raid at a Rowan University dormitory.

Glassboro police said investigators found LSD, MDMA (commonly known as "Molly" or ecstasy) and marijuana, as well as manufacturing and packaging supplies and the cash, while executing a search warrant at Edgewood Apartments on Rowan's campus.

Police seized a safe that contained about 100 doses of LSD, which has a street value of about $2,000; about three-quarters of a pound of MDMA, with a street value of about $30,000; marijuana; manufacturing and packaging tools; and $28,924 in cash, authorities said.

Police allege the safe belonged to Rowan student Brian Taylor, 19, of Manchester, N.J. He is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute LSD, possession with intent to distribute MDMA, distribution of drugs in a school zone and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Three other 19-year-olds were arrested on charges of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Authorities identified them as Brian Bal, of Bogota, N.J.; Daniel Luzniak, of Pompton Lakes, N.J.; and Kayla Mehalick, of Middletown, N.J.

Corrections officer jailed in sexual assault case

A corrections officer at the Bucks County prison was arrested yesterday for allegedly sexually assaulting a female inmate.

Brendan Triplett, 31, of Souderton was charged with institutional sexual assault, a felony, and two counts of intimidation of a witness or victim. Police say prison officials notified authorities last month that a female inmate complained that Triplett had sexual contact with her at the jail in Doylestown and told the woman not to tell anyone.
