Cops: Dad punches Wawa customer for ogling daughter

Victim may have suffered concussion.

AN IRATE FATHER delivered a knuckle sandwich to a Wawa customer at a touch-screen kiosk on Sunday because he believed the man was ogling his daughter instead of the food, police said.

Now, Upper Darby police are asking for the public's help in identifying the furious father or his darling daughter.

The incident occurred about 5:20 p.m. at the Wawa on 69th Street near Patterson Avenue. The victim, 47, was ordering a sandwich when the diligent dad approached him, accused him of eyeing his daughter and then coldcocked him, police said.

The victim suffered a cut and a possible concussion and was taken to Delaware County Memorial Hospital for treatment, Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said.

"If somebody's looking at your daughter, why don't you confront him instead of punching him?" Chitwood asked. "This guy's not an overprotective father. . . . That's just his excuse for thumping the guy."

The man and his daughter left the store and fled in a four-door car, believed to be a Ford.

Tipsters with information on the identity of the man or his daughter are asked to call Upper Darby police at 610-734-7693.
