Cops: Woman run over by her own SUV in Bustleton

The 46-year-old woman was in “extremely critical condition” after the accident, police said.

A WOMAN was clinging to life last night after a horrific accident in Bustleton, police said.

Just after 5:30 p.m., a 46-year-old woman was dropping her kids off at the Klein Jewish Community Center, on Jamison Avenue near Red Lion Road, when she became pinned underneath her Honda SUV, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the woman's head and torso wedged under the passenger side of the vehicle, Small said. Only her feet and lower legs were visible.

Medics freed the woman and took her to Aria Health's Torresdale hospital, where she was in "extremely critical condition" last night with severe injuries to her chest, Small said.

Witnesses told investigators that the SUV began to slowly roll down the community center's driveway after the woman got out with her children. The woman stepped in front of the SUV, apparently in an attempt to stop it, when it rolled over her, Small said.

Police last night said the woman may have mistakenly thought her car was in park when she stepped out of the vehicle.
