MEDFORD - An early Saturday morning canoe accident has one of the two victims fighting for his life.  Other media reports say the man has died, but Medford police had not yet officially confirmed that.

According to the Medford Township Police Chief Anthony Canale, two unidentified people fell into Taunton Lake after their canoe overturned. One was able to save himself, but the other, identified only by Canale as a 23-year-old from out of the area, was rescued by the township's marine unit after being spotted by a State Police helicopter about a half-hour after police received the initial call about the mishap at 2:14 a.m..

Canale said CPR was administered to the 23-year-old at the site. He was then taken by ambulance to Virtua West Jersey Hospital in nearby Marlton.

Canale said the two victims were visiting friends.
