Dirt bike accident kills man, injures woman

A 19-year-old man died Monday night from injuries suffered in a motorcycle collision in Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

The rider and a rear passenger, a 19-year-old female, were riding a dirt bike on the sidewalk along the 7200 block of Hawthorne Street Street in Mayfair before veering into the street and colliding head-on with a 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV around 1:30 p.m., police said.

Both the man and the woman were were taken to Aria Health Torresdale campus.

The man was pronounced dead Monday night, and the female passenger remains in critical condition, police said.
