Shot homeless woman was to testify

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office says that a homeless woman who was shot and critically injured in April was set to testify in a prior case in which she was the victim of a vicious assault.

The office announced a $1,000 reward today and is asking for help from the public in solving the crime.

Stephanie Warren, 48, was shot in the head on April 12 while she was in a vacant lot on the 500 block of Rand Street in Camden, according to authorities.  She remains in critical condition at Cooper University Health Care in Camden.

Warren, who had a drug problem, was beaten unconscious by a local resident on April 10 on Boyd Street, investigators said.  She identified her attacker as Allan Mattocks, and a trial was scheduled for May 20. Mattocks was charged with kidnapping, criminal restraint and aggravated assault in that case.

Then, just two days after the assault, Warren was shot. Video shows her walking away from a gas station on Rand Street about 15 minutes before the shooting.
