NJ mom believed to have fatally slashed 6-year-old son's throat

A Deptford Township mother is believed to have slahed the throat of her six year-old son this morning, killing him, according to authorities.

Martina Harding, 42, also wounded herself and was transported to Cooper Medical Center in Camden for treatment, according to a release by the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.

Jared Harding was killed at his family's home on the 700 block of Dartmouth Road in the Oak Valley section of Deptford, Gloucester County. Jared was home with his mother, her husband, Christian, and a nine-year-old sister at the time.

Jared was taken to Underwood-Memorial-Hospital in Woodbury where he died.

The attack was reported about 7:30 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for 2 p.m. today.

Charges against Harding are pending.

The incident is being investigated by the Major Crimes Unit of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Deptford Township Police Department.
