Dan Gross | Linc fan gets an escort
AN EAGLES FAN was detained by security at Monday's game at the Linc after shoving a security guard who had come over to break up an argument involving the fan, former Eagles defensive end Brandon Whiting and ESPN's Tim Legler.

and ESPN's
Tim Legler
.
According to Whiting and Legler, a man behind their row in the club level was making lewd comments and gestures to Whiting's wife, Amanda, and Legler's fiancee, Christina Fuller, a former Eagles Cheerleader.
Whiting says he approached the man and asked him to cool it, leading fans to chant "a--hole, a--hole" at him. An eyewitness says he did not see Whiting or Legler lay a hand on anybody, but did see the security guard take a tumble, and then a man being led away in cuffs. The heckling began because a friend of Legler's wore a Redskins jersey. The Virginia-raised Legler, who played for La Salle and in the NBA, is a proud Redskins fan.
Philadelphia police report only one arrest at the Linc Monday: A woman in a Cowboys jersey spit on someone after trying to start fights all night. Serves her right.
Stephen A. signals Inky split
It'll be hard for Stephen A. Smith to become an Inqwaster general-assigment reporter now that he's just signed to host a national afternoon radio show on ESPN, as Richard Prince's Journal-Isms reported yesterday online at maynardije.org. Smith, who previously hosted on New York's 1050 ESPN Radio's from noon to 2 p.m. weekdays, will now host there from 2 to 4, with the final hour going national on ESPN Radio. His broadcast partner is former Inqwaster reporter and ex-610 WIP yakker Mike Missanelli. As we reported Monday, Smith, who was stripped of his column a month ago, was to report for work as a sports reporter, but extended his unpaid leave, and now has a lawyer issuing vague statements to reporters rather than mouthing off himself.
Panty-raider hauled out of event
Comedian Danny Ozark was forcibly removed by a Philadelphia police officer from the Fillmore at the TLA Friday morning after he shoved Opie & Anthony sidekick Club Soda Kenny.
Ozark, a regular on 94 WYSP's Kidd Chris show, last made headlines after announcing on the show that he'd rifled through NBC-10 reporter LuAnn Cahn's underwear drawer after her housesitter held a party at her house.
He was trying out for an opening slot on O&A's Traveling Virus comedy show Saturday at the Tweeter Center. Ozark says his set suffered as he was "pretty blasted" from all the free drinks he'd enjoyed at the early-AM talent search. Mayo, aka Joseph DiMaio, of the Northeast, won the opening slot at the Tweeter show and is proud of his short set.
Out and about
As the Eagles wallowed in defeat Monday night, Redskins Clinton Portis, Chris Cooley and Chris Samuels celebrated their victory with a visit to Atlantic City's Borgata. The guys hung out at the mur.mur nightclub, where Philly-raised DJ Adam Bomb was spinning his weekly Monday night gig.

Commissioner Sylvester Johnson both went for salmon filets over lunch yesterday at the Palm (200 S. Broad).
Hope she wears her uniform
Local nurse Hillary Reisinger, 27, is among the new crop of ladies vying over Brad Womack, ABC's newest "Bachelor," which premieres at 9:30 Monday night.
Tiki was in town for 'Today'
Retired Giants running back Tiki Barber, now a contributor to NBC's "Today" show, was on the campus of St. Joseph's University yesterday interviewing Dr. Joel Fish, director of the Center for Sports Psychology, for a segment about sports-parenting to air on Sept. 26.
Fish, author of "101 Ways to Be a Terrific Sports Parent," said Barber graciously signed autographs for St. Joe's kids.
Barkley: O.J.'s 'a scumbag'
"I think O.J. Simpson is a scumbag," said Charles Barkley yesterday on Sports Radio 950. Barkley told afternoon hosts Harry Mayes and Jamie Yannacone that he thinks O.J. killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman but that "there's something shaky" about his recent armed-robbery arrest.
Wrong date for Lex Street panel
Regrettably, in yesterday's column, we said that author Antonne M. Jones' panel discussion about the topic of his new book, "The Lex Street Massacre," at the African American Museum (7th & Arc) would be held last night. The free event actually takes place tonight, from 6 to 8. For more info, visit LexStreetProject.com. *
