Two Cubans skip own movie to defect

The biggest story coming out of the Tribeca Film Festival – besides, of course, the U.S. premiere of Tattle's movie, "Hysteria – is the true-life tale of what happens when two Cuban actors on the way to the festival disappear en route to the film's premiere.

Javier Nunez Florian and Analin de la Rua de la Torre disappeared in Miami during a layover on their way to see their film "Una Noche."

"Una Noche," written and directed by Lucy Mulloy, is about impoverished teenagers who decide to defect to the United States.

A third actor from the film, Dariel Arrechada, participated in the festival. He is scheduled to return to Cuba.

Christopher Dodd, head of the Motion Picture Association of America, says that its rating system is fair despite ongoing complaints and the abject silliness of a few random adults secretly determining everyone's morals.

Good thing Dodd's not biased.

The Kardashian family will continue living life on TV for the next three years.

The E! Entertainment network said Tuesday it had reached a deal to make three more seasons of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." Terms were not disclosed.

The sixth season of the show averaged 3 million viewers on Sunday nights, the cable network's top series.

In another sign of the coming apocalypse, five of the 10 most-watched shows in the network's history involve the Kardashians.

The 18-episode seventh season begins on May 20.

As a "Kardashians" producer, this is good news for Ryan Seacrest. Also good news for Seacrest: Fox said Monday night that he "will continue" as host of "American Idol."

Rumored terms are two more years at $15 million per.

HBO's "Real Time With Bill Maher" has been renewed for two more seasons.

The show is averaging 4.1 million viewers per episode, so take that, Kim Kardashian!

Also back? The Beatles.

Recently discovered footage of the Fab Four's first full-length concert in the United States is the subject of a new documentary, "The Beatles: The Lost Concert."

Recorded at Washington Coliseum in February 1964 to an overbooked audience of 8,000 screaming teenagers, the 12-song set included "She Loves You" and "I Saw Her Standing There." The show came just two days after the group appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show."

The documentary, which includes new interviews with Steven Tyler, Chuck Berry and Mark Ronson,will premiere at New York's Ziegfeld Theatre on May 6, and will branch out from there.

Hong Kong pop singer Eason Chan has become the first Chinese performer to play London's O2 arena, starring in a sold-out concert.

Philadelphia native/comedian Kevin Hart has been added to the main-stage lineup for the 2012 Essence Music Festival, in New Orleans (July 6-8).

Hart joins a lineup that includes Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, Charlie Wilson, Ledisi, Fantasia and Eve.
