Cats brutalized and killed in Mayfair

Recent events in Philadelphia’s Mayfair section have caused residents to become concerned about the well-being of stray cats in the area.

Recent events in Philadelphia's Mayfair section have caused residents to become concerned about the well-being of stray cats in the area.

NBC10 reports that children in the neighborhood might be targeting strays, abusing and killing them.

"I walked in and I thought I was going to throw up," Mayfair resident Raymond Boyce told NBC10.

After a child knocked on his door and said there were "kids trying to hurt cats," Boyce said he went to a shed on Lardner Street and found four cats dead.

"The only things left were skulls, fur and little bones here and there," Boyce said.

Gina Albater also lives in Mayfair and said two dead cats appeared on her neighbor's front lawn.

Both Boyce and Albater have filed police reports, and animal welfare officials are investigating. No arrests have been made.
