Steve and Mia: Her beau's a bed-wetter

Q: I have a really strange problem. The guy I'm seeing wets the bed. Not every night, but it happens enough that I'm concerned. The first time, I thought it was because he'd been drinking heavily, but it happens even on nights when he hasn't had a single drink. No matter how much I've tried to clean up, I always smell urine in his room.

I've thought about breaking up with him, but he's a good man in so many other ways. Not sure what to do . . .

Mia: Before you invest in a box of adult-size diapers and an industrial strength air freshener, get your boyfriend in to see a doctor.

Your guy may be suffering from primary nocturnal enuresis, which is urinating while asleep. Luckily, this situation is treatable.

A doctor might recommend something really simple, such as monitoring his fluid intake or maybe installing some sort of bed-wetting alarm system. In stubborn cases, this condition can also be treated with medications and surgical procedures.

Good men are hard to find, so try to work with dude. If he balks about getting medical treatment, that's the time to dump him.

Steve: Nothing ruins romance faster than a urine-soaked bed. Seeing a doctor is step one, but while waiting for a diagnosis, buy him a pair of rubber pants.

Q: I dread this time of year because my guy likes to dress up in Halloween costumes a little too much.

He starts talking about what he's going to wear weeks before Halloween even gets here, and then he likes to walk around in his Batman costume or whatever just a little too much for my taste.

Should I be worried?

Mia: You really should ask him what you've asked us. But if he's otherwise normal, why not buy some costumes yourself and join him in playing out his fantasies a little?

Steve: As long as he doesn't dress up as Justin Bieber, you should be fine.
