The 2nd Unbridaled Wedding Expo will take place on January 10, 2009, from 10am -4pm at the Crane Arts Building, 1400 N. American St. Philadelphia, Pa, 19122.
Unbridaled offers an alternative to the traditional wedding expo, focusing on local, handmade, environmentally friendly services for wedding planning. Co-founder Tracy McGinnis explains, "Unbridaled gives the couple who has some interest in sustainability and originality in their wedding access to local businesses and artists that are inspired by the same values; artists they may not have otherwise come across via mainstream wedding planning.".
Ms. McGinnis and her partners see that the wedding industry has an enormous impact on the environment in the tons of waste produced by receptions, bulky invitations with lots of paper, travel of out of town guests, and products such as flowers, etc that are shipped to the wedding location. They seek to counter that by emphasizing green vendors: vendors who have earth friendly practices and attributes within their services such as green photographers JAG Studios, green residential building at the 100K House Project and recycled clothing from Sazz Vintage. By focusing on small and local businesses, the Expo builds local economy while cutting down on the impact of shipping products and services.
Unbridaled is taking charge of its effect on the environment by being held at a location that is accessible via public transportation, conducts its business electronically, recycling, and by partnering with

Unbridaled will showcase local designers, green photographers, green wedding planners as well as boutiques, microbakeries, and jewelry designers. Festive Fotobooths, Baked Micro-bakery, Arcadia Boutique, Delicious Corsets and Deer Tree Press are only a few of the 60 area businesses that will participate in Unbridaled. The fashion show, produced by Lauren Raske, fashion stylist and show coordinator that specializes in creative presentations, will feature the glamorous Philly RollerGirls and will showcase local designers and their take on distinctive wedding attire and accessories.
