Maple Shade man indicted in 2009 fatal crash

A Maple Shade man was indicted Tuesday by a Burlington County Grand Jury for causing the deaths of two people in a 2009 Mount Laurel crash, authorities said Thursday. Stephen Ford, 28, turned himself in Thursday morning and posted $250,000 bail. He faces charges of aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide, and assault by auto, said Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi.

Ford has also been charged with driving while intoxicated and other motor vehicle offenses, authorities said. On Aug. 9, 2009, Ford allegedly lost control of his Chevrolet pickup on westbound Route 38 around 2:30 p.m. The pickup struck an SUV and a box truck in the eastbound lanes. Ford's passenger and the driver of the SUV were killed. The box-truck driver was treated for injuries. - Darran Simon
