Laborers' union backs Nutter for reelection
The Laborers' District Council of Philadelphia & Vicinity is expected Wednesday to endorse Mayor Nutter for a second term.
The Laborers' District Council of Philadelphia & Vicinity is expected Wednesday to endorse Mayor Nutter for a second term.
The union, which was one of former Mayor John F. Street's biggest financial backers, includes about 7,500 Philadelphia members. It did not support Nutter in the 2007 five-way Democratic primary, but it later contributed to his campaign before the general election.
The union's support, to be announced at the Convention Center, is the latest in a series of weekly endorsements unveiled by the Nutter campaign, which so far has no primary competition. - Marcia Gelbart
