10-year-old Lower Merion boy stabs father

A 33-year-old man was stabbed in the neck by his 10-year-old son Sunday night during an incident in Ardmore, Lower Merion Township officials said this morning.

The stabbing occurred just before 10:20 p.m. in an apartment building in the first block of Llanfair Road, according to Breaking News Network, which monitors police radio traffic.

The father was transported to Paoli Hospital, said Thomas Walsh, public information officer for Lower Merion.

No one else was hurt.

Police were withholding a description of the knife because it could become part of any future criminal case against the boy. However, no charges had been filed as of 11:25 a.m. today.

Walsh said the boy, whose identity was being withheld because of his age, was in the custody of family members. Walsh declined to comment on what triggered the stabbing.

Senior officers were still at the crime scene this morning conducting their investigation, Walsh said.
