A convicted sex offender with pending sex offenses now faces additional charges for failing to comply with Megan's Law, the Chester County District Attorney's Office announced yesterday.
David Profeto, 56, of Valley Township, convicted in 1991 of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and attempted rape, was arrested on Dec. 4 and charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors, and related offenses, a news release said.
During the investigation into the new charges, officials said they learned that Profeto provided false information on his annual Megan's Law registration from November 2002 through November 2006, the release said. Profeto, who was held at Chester County Prison after failing to post $50,000 cash bail, waived his preliminary hearing last week, the release said. - Kathleen Brady Shea
