HARRISBURG - Investment banker and lawyer Robin Wiessmann was sworn in yesterday as state treasurer, filling the post vacated when Democrat Bob Casey Jr. was elected to the U.S. Senate.
Wiessmann, of Newtown, Bucks County, has managed pension funds and advised state treasurers or comptrollers in at least eight states, including Pennsylvania. She most recently has been a director with Merrill Lynch and was president of Artemis Capital Group, an investment banking firm.
Wiessmann, appointed by Gov. Rendell and confirmed unanimously by the state Senate, agreed not to seek election to the position when the current term expires.
"Pennsylvanians trust the Treasurer's Office to make wise investments with their money, and I intend to work hard every day to earn - and keep - that trust," Wiessmann said in a news release.
