A woman's hand was cut off Monday night at Market East Station when she was struck by a SEPTA train, authorities said.

A woman's hand was cut off Monday night at Market East Station when she was struck by a SEPTA train, authorities said.

The woman, whose name and age were not available, was struck about 7:20 on Track 3 between 12th and 13th Streets, authorities said. It was not known how she came to be on the track. Train service continued or was diverted onto neighboring tracks, said SEPTA spokesman Richard Maloney.

The woman was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital with her vital signs reported as unstable. Police are investigating the incident. - Robert Moran
