Man hit by truck walks away but later dies

Philadelphia police say they want to speak with the driver of a white Ford F-150 truck that Monday night hit a 48-year-old man in Kensington who was able to walk away but who later died.

Efrain Martinez was crossing Kensington Avenue at Monmouth Street about 8 p.m. when he was hit, police said. The driver stopped and asked Martinez, who was with his brother, if he wanted to go to the hospital, but he said he did not. Martinez later experienced chest pains and difficulty breathing, and was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:05 p.m.
