Officer treated after accident in N.E. Phila.

A police officer was taken to a hospital Tuesday night after she was in a car accident with a suspected drunken driver in Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

About 7:25, the officer was driving her patrol car in the 2200 block of Bleigh Avenue in Rhawnhurst when she hit the rear of a Chrysler New Yorker making a turn in front of her, police said.

The officer hit her head and was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale Campus, where she was expected to be treated and released. The woman driving the Chrysler was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. - Robert Moran
