Phila. police hunt for suspects in two shootings

Two people were killed in shootings over the weekend, Philadelphia police said. A 22-year-old man was shot once in the chest and once in the back about 7:20 p.m. Friday in the 2700 block of West Jefferson Street, in North Philadelphia. He was pronounced dead just after 8 p.m. at Hahnemann University Hospital. No arrest had been made as of Saturday night, and the police have not identified he victim.

A 22-year-old man was shot once in the chest and once in the back about 7:20 p.m. Friday in the 2700 block of West Jefferson Street, in North Philadelphia. He was pronouncded dead just after 8 p.m. at Hahnemann University Hospital. No arrest had been made as of Saturday night, and the police have not identified he victim.

Police also are searching for three suspects in the shooting death of a 20-year-old man in Wynnefield.

Officers arrived in the 5300 block of Hazelhurst Street after receiving a report of a shooting. They found the man on the street in front of his residence, bleeding from his chest and stomach.

About 20 minutes later he was pronounced dead at 12:18 a.m. Saturday at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. His identity also was being withheld.

The suspects fled on foot before officers arrived, police said.

Police described one suspect as an African-American male, around 5-foot-3, with a heavy build, wearing a gray hoodie. Witnesses described the other two suspects, also African-American males, as being about 5-foot-7 and wearing dark-colored hoodies.
