To encourage shoppers to patronize city merchants during the festive season, the Philadelphia Parking Authority has suspended parking-meter enforcement after 11 a.m. on Saturdays. The free parking will last through the end of the year.

The PPA also set a flat $8 rate from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays at six municipal garages: Second and Sansom Streets; Fifth and Market; Eighth and Filbert; 10th and Filbert; 10th and Ludlow; and 16th and Ben Franklin Parkway. Regular rates take effect after 5 p.m.

There is no change in Sunday parking rules, although many spots with meters are free on that day. - Inquirer staff
