Generous donors might help robbery victims in Middletown Township

MIDDLETOWN TWP. Donors might end up making it a merry Christmas for an elderly couple. An 83-year-old man and 80-year-old woman told police they left their home on the 100 block of South Pennell Road about 9:30 a.m. Monday. When they returned before noon, a door to their house had been forced open. They found that jewelry and $4,500 in their safe had been taken, and told police they needed the money to buy Christmas presents.

Trooper Rosemary McGuire, an officer in the Community Services Unit in Media, said the state police could not comment on any suspects or leads at this time. She said she had received several calls from community members who would like to help the couple make up the money lost and hoped that Senior Victim Services of Delaware County could process the donations.
