One dead, two injured in separate city shootings

PHILADELPHIA In shootings in East Germantown and Kensington over the weekend, one man was killed, one was left clinging to life, and a woman was wounded, Philadelphia police said.

In the deadly East Germantown shooting, Bernard Franklin, 25, of West Oak Lane, was shot multiple times in the chest, right arm, and right leg about 7:25 p.m. Saturday on the 1300 block of East Johnson Street, police said. He was pronounced dead at Einstein Medical Center.

In that attack, an 18-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to a foot. She was in stable condition Sunday at Einstein, police said.

Three men were involved in the East Germantown shooting, but no arrests had been made as of Sunday afternoon, police said.

In the Kensington shooting, a man was shot twice in the head and four times in the abdomen about 3:30 a.m. Sunday outside his home on the 2900 block of Frankford Avenue.

He remains in critical condition at Temple University Hospital. His name and age were not disclosed. Police had made no arrests and offered no motive for the shooting.
