'Joshua,' the pastor who would be mayor

Details on the Rev. Kevin R. Johnson.

THE REV. KEVIN R. Johnson, pastor at Bright Hope Baptist Church in North Philly, is forming an exploratory committee to run for mayor in 2015.

Here are some details on the man behind the cloth.

* Early life: Born in February 1974 in Dallas, and raised in Austin, Texas ("Nick Foles is my homeboy.").

* Education: Undergraduate degree from Morehouse College in Atlanta; a master's in divinity from Union Theological Seminary in Manhattan and a doctarate in education from Columbia University.

* Experience: Minister at Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem before coming to Philadelphia in 2006.

* Nickname: Bright Hope members call him "Joshua." ("If Rev. Gray is Moses, then I'm Joshua," he said, referring to former Bright Hope pastor and U.S. Rep. Bill Gray III.)

* Family: His wife, Kimya S.P. Johnson, is a lawyer at the Philly firm Cozen O'Connor. He has a 12-year-old son and two daughters, ages 8 and 6.
