DOWNINGTOWN The Downingtown Area School District is considering adding snow makeup days to its calendar and plans to survey the community about the possibility over the next month, according to the district's spokeswoman.
The district, which has had six snow days this year, has three makeup days in the calendar: Martin Luther King's Birthday and the Fridays before Presidents Day and Memorial Day. Because the district did not use Martin Luther King's Birthday as a makeup day this year, four additional days have been tacked onto the end of the school year in June, spokeswoman Patricia McGlone said.
McGlone said the board on Wednesday decided to survey the community before voting on how many makeup days to add and when they should be scheduled. She said she expected the board to make a final decision next month. The survey will be posted online, she said. - Tricia L. Nadolny
